🍗 Time for Nuggets And Mac
Share
Every Thursday night, I make chicken nuggets and mac & cheese.
It’s not written down anywhere.
There’s no big plan.
But somehow… Thursday became the night.
I toss the nuggets in.
Boil the water.
Yell “Set the table!” from the kitchen.
And for twenty minutes,
there’s a kind of rhythm.
Habitual. Familiar. Calming.
It’s simple.
It’s fast.
It’s not winning any culinary awards.
But it’s done right.
Hot, ready, and served with a side of
“I remembered what everyone likes.”
This is nurse brain, leaking into mom life.
Prioritizing what works.
Streamlining the chaos.
Knowing when “easy” is also “enough.”
I used to wonder if I should be more creative.
Try a new recipe.
Push myself to switch it up.
But now?
Now I see the beauty in the ritual.
The way it signals:
We made it to Thursday.
We’re fed.
We’re here. Together.
Some people call it boring.
But I call it peace.
Because in a life that changes every shift,
a little sameness can feel like a blessing.
P.S.
What’s your go-to “nurse night” meal?
The one you can make on autopilot —
or the one that brings everyone to the table?

We’d love to feature it (anonymously is fine!).
Let’s make space for nurses to find comfort —
even in frozen nuggets and boxed mac.
